NAWOJ Tasks Women On Leadership Positions

Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Rivers State chapter has asked women to be bold enough to take  leadership positions in the society.

The Coalition Of Ogoni Women (TCOOW) paid a courtesy visit to NAWOJ.

She said taking up leadership positions will make them relevant in the society adding that as peacefull beings they are expected to proffer solutions on how best to achieve and sustain peace in the society.

She further charged the Ogoni women to strategically position themselves and be ready to take up leadership positions in Ogoniland especially now that United MOSOP Forum (UMF) is making efforts to put an end to factional MOSOP Presidents.

She expressed belief that they are capable of making their children turn away from all forms of violence adding that as mothers with special bonds with their children it very natural that their children will hearken to their voices.

“Most of our youths today, have no one to look unto since after the death of our past heroes, Late Ken Saro Wiwa and nine others, many of them have chosen the path of violence due to failure of Ogoni leaders to live up to their expectations”, she remarked.

Earlier, the Chairperson of TCOOW, Dr Patience Osarojiji, disclosed their readiness to partner with NAWOJ  in amplifying the voices of women as well as demanding gender inclusion in all levels of governance from the family to community and public places.
