Hope Rises For Khana Youths

…As Lawmaker Promises Massive Empowerment

There appears to be hope for the restive youths of Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State as the newly elected lawmaker representing Khana constituency II in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Prince Lezina Ngbor has promised to embark on massive employment and empowerment of the teeming unemployed youths of the area as soon as possible.

The lawmaker stated this in a chat with newsmen in his office in Port Harcourt on Monday.

He made it clear that as a youth friendly politician, it has been his dream to empower the youths who are the leaders of tomorrow; adding that when a man is jobless and hungry, he is bound to be angry at the system.

According to him, “my number one priority is to empower the youths by creation of jobs and skills acquisition to enable them to be self-reliant, saying that youths are largely the challenges of the country.

“As a member representing the good, bad and ugly people of Khana constituency II, I promise an effective representation that will be worthy of emulation at the end of my tenure,” he declared.

On the political situation in the state, Hon. Ngbor said everybody is happy that the tension created by the election is dying down, adding that the lawmakers are going to follow the footsteps of governor Nyesom Wike to ensure good governance for Rivers State.

He used the opportunity to commend Governor Wike for his electoral victory which he noted came after many hurdles through God’s grace, adding that the development shows that the governor is on a divine mission in Rivers State.

The lawmaker stated that the cordial relationship that has existed amongst the legislature, executives and judiciary would continue in the interest of the state.

On the olive branch offer by the governor to his political opponents, Prince Ngbor said it was the quality of a good leader who has the overall interest of the people at heart and never a sign of weakness.

“As a good politician, if one wins an election, he/she would call everybody together for conciliation in order to move the state to greater height”.

On the proliferation of political parties in Nigeria, the lawmaker condemned the development in its entirety as a waste of resources and suggested between 5-10 political parties for the country for easy management.

He also advocated for the introduction of electronic voting system which he explained will make rigging of election difficult.

“Manipulation and violence in election in whatever form would be drastically reduced. Whoever wins, good and would be encouraged to carry others along. On which area, he will want Governor Wike to give priority attention to during this second tenure, Hon. Prince Ngbor said security should get such attention.

“Though the governor has done virtually everything to combat the menace including supporting the security agencies, sabortage by the same people is responsible for the consisting challenges”, he stated.

He used the opportunity to advise on the posting out of the security agents including policemen who have overstayed in their duty posts.

“As I am speaking with you, some policemen in Ogoni land have stayed up to 15 – 20 years in their stations and that could give room for sabotage of the system.
