It was pomp and pageantry at Ogu town square recently as the people of Ogu Kingdom in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area of Rivers State formally coronated their Paramount Ruler, His Majesty, King Nicholas Dickson Ibiebele Nimenibo, Loko IX, Amanyanabo of Ogu Kingdom.
Addressing the mammoth crowd after the coronation at the town square, King Nimenibo, enjoined the people of the kingdom to continue to embrace peace, love and unity in order to attract more development and progress into the community.
He urged them to be their brothers’ keepers and eschew all forms of acrimony, rancour and infighting as no community thrives in such an atmosphere, stressing that as a father, he would sustain the existing peaceful atmosphere and love for every son and daughter of the kingdom.
His Majesty also called for all hands to be on deck for a new dawn and thanked the chiefs and entire people of the community for their patience, unalloyed loyalty and unflinching support during the trying times that preceded the lingering court case.
He assured the people that his reign will continue to be peaceful and focus on the interest of the people and the community.
The Ogu first-class traditional ruler reiterated his earlier declaration that the youths should progress better than their forebears, stressing that since he ascended the throne in 2005, there have been peaceful co-existence, accelerated development and progress in Ogu and the entire kingdom.
Earlier, the Chairman of Ogu Divisional Council of Chiefs, Chief Lawrence Abiebiari Inibi Egbelekpiki, expressed delight that the kingdom has formally coronated its traditional ruler which was delayed due to legal constraints and also expressed optimism and confidence that the peaceful reign being enjoyed in the community would be sustained for more development, progress and unity.
Chief Egbelekpiki assured the king of their total support and co-operation of the people in order to further take the kingdom to greater heights and thanked all for their massive turn-out to witness the event.
Dignitaries that graced the occasion include the Bishop, Diocese of Okrika Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev. Tubokesemie Abere, who prayed and sanctified the Crown, Senator George Thompson Sekibo and the Chief Whip, Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Evans Bapakaye Bipi among others.
