Cell Break: Defilement Suspect Re-arrested, Transferred To SCID

One Robinson Michael an alleged defilement suspect who was said to have masterminded the cell break in Okirika Police Division in February in which he himself and three other  suspects escaped has been transferred to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Port Harcourt after his re-arrest by Okirika Police Division recently.

The Public Relations Officer of Rivers State Command, SP Grace Iringe Koko confirmed the development to our reporter. SP Grace Iringe Koko disclosed that the re-arrest of the suspect was made possible by the directive of Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday .

The suspect who allegedly defiled an underaged girl escaped from the custody of Okirika Police Division in February, precisely a day to be transferred to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for possible prosecution.

Recall that the complainant, Hezekiah Theophilus had raised alarm that the suspect in a defilement case he reported to Okirika Police Division had escaped alongside other suspected criminals.

The development attracted outrage from many quarters and the Commissioner of Police, CP Eboka Friday ordered for thorough investigation of the incident and questioning of the officers on duty on the night of the incident which led to the escape of the suspects.
