Khana Cult Killings: Ogoni Youths Federation Preaches Peace

The Ogoni Youths Federation (OYF) has called on religious and traditional leaders in Khana Local Government Area to wade into the ongoing cult war that has led to the death of several persons especially in Zaakpon and Luawii communities.

President of the group, Legborsi Nyorbaba in an interview with journalists on Monday said the present situation is giving the youths sleepless nights and negative impression about Ogoniland.

He said the ugly situation also called for the intervention of intellectuals and politicians who depend on electorates for votes.

“Where are KAGOTE and MOSOP?  We must as a race restore our dignity and come up with ways to end this acrimony among ourselves”, he said.

In separate interviews by our reporter, a student of Kenpoly, Bori who gave her name as Parakor Gift said: “We can’t fight for a better Nigeria when we fight worthlessly.  Please let’s embrace peace and grow up once in our lives”.

Some students who spoke to our reporter from the affected communities said they have committed the situation to God, as their studies are now in jeopardy, calling on government to deploy security operatives to the area.

The President of Zaakpon and Bori Youth Council, Dornubari Asogho in an interview called on community leaders in Ogoni to rise up and address the problem.

“I am calling on the attention of the leadership of Khana Council and the elders, chiefs and youths to rise against the incessant killings in Ogoniland”, he said.
