Degema: I’ll Not Fail You, Lawmaker Assures Constituents

The Legislator representing Degema State Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. (Engr) Anthony Soberekon has reaffirmed his readiness to offer effective representation to his people.

He stated this on Monday June 3, 2019 at a reception in his honour shortly after the inauguration of the 9th Assembly.

Soberekon acknoweledged that the task before him is enormous and full of high expectation as Degema LG has a complex problem which must be tackled squarely.

He noted that the welfare and security of his people will be given priority attention on his administration and appealed for all hands to be on deck to find solution to the challenges.

Hon. Soberekon promised an all inclusive government that would transform the Degema local government area within his first tenure in office and promised to be consulting them before any project is carried out.

“We are going to work together, both the legislature and the executive will continue to work in harmony to bring the dividends of democracy to our people and indeed to ensure that the achievements made in the Wike’s first tenure is consolidated, through the formulation of good bills that would move the state forward”, he said. 

Hon. Soberekon used the opportunity to appreciate each and everyone who contributed in one form or the other to make his emergence a reality discouragements even in the face of discouragement.

He advised that there was nothing wrong with Christians venturing into politics especially if one holds his/her God firmly for the battle, adding that victory is assured at the end.

“We can’t sit on the fence if we desired a change in the system, nobody gave my Bille Community a chance in the Degema political terrain but I pushed on with my God leading the way.

“At the end, God gave the Tombia Community something bigger which paved way for us. That is God for you”, making a way where appears to be no way”.  

He also advised that whatever opportunity one is given to serve his/her people, the fellow should do it with all amount of commitment and honesty.

“My past contribution to the community equally played a big role in convincing the people to bestow confidence in me, hence the massive support”.

Hon. Soberekon was particularly grateful to the Bille Chiefs Council and his Soberekon Support Group (SSG) for the confidence reposed in him which translated to the victory they were celebrating.

In their goodwill messages, the Degema stakeholders thanked God for the emergence of Hon. Soberekon, saying that they are sure the legislator will not disappoint their expectation going by his antecedence.
