One of the outstanding aspirants to the coveted seat of the Ikwerre Local Government Council Chairmanship, Chief, Sir Goodluck Nwobike over the weekend in Port Harcourt bagged yet another meritorious award of excellence over his contributions to humanity.
The award was from the Grassroots Journalists Association. Speaking at the occasion, the leader of the group, Mr Hillary K. Amadi said the choice of the recipient was a result of a diligent observance of his activities over time since Dr Nwobike's days as a banker.
He prayed that the electorate would see reasons with the group to vote for Nwobike for the chairmanship position of Kelga when the time comes in the general interest of all.
Responding the recipient, Sir Nwobike thanked the group for finding him worthy for the prestigious award affirming that the award would spur him to do more to the society.
“I thank you all for finding me fit to be honoured and I promise that nothing will sway me to fall below general expectations,” he said.
He urged the group to use their God-given pen to project the good works of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike as a way of encouragement for him to do more.
Some of the dignitaries who graced the occasion were Prof. Chin Nwosu, Mr Courage Wobodo, Mr. Isaiah Ani and Dr. (Mrs) Jenet Ibezim.
Others were Dr. Okereke Izundu, Chief Henry Kanu, Mr. Chigozi Dimm and Elder A. J. Nsirim.
Dr. Kanu, on behalf of other guests thanked the group for finding Chief Dr. Nwobike worthy for the historic award.
