Ohna Georgeson Njoku To Be Laid To Rest In Ibaa, Saturday

The family of late community leader and respected Owhor holder in Ibaa Community of Emohua Local Government Area, Ohna Georgeson Jeremiah Njoku who died at the age of 101 years, has announced his burial rites.

A statement by his son, Elder Njoku Omeego Anele, said the body of the late Ohna whom he described variously as a good man and retired politician, would be committed to mother earth on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Ohionu Village, Ibaa Community.

In the statement, copies which were made available to the media, the younger Njoku, a committed member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, said his late father, whom before his demise was the second oldest man in Ibaa Community, played active roles in his days at the defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN) and National Republican Convention (NRC) respectively.

“Our father was a staunch politician who single handedly galvanized many in Ibaa community into politics.  He did not play the politics of bitterness as witnessed today. Many of us who are there today learnt the trade through his tutelage.  We will miss him dearly”, he wrote.

Further announcing the burial formalities, Njoku said it will commence on Thursday, November 17, 2022 with the traditional ‘community eating of cow’, and would be followed by Service of Songs at Igwenyi Playground in Ibaa on Friday, November 18, 2022.

His body would leave the Delight Medical Mortuary, at the Ogbakiri/Emohua Junction to Ibaa on Saturday, November 19, 2022 with a brief funeral service at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Allofe Ibaa before interment at 12 noon.

The late centenarian, Njoku revealed would be survived by his children, brothers, sisters, uncles, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, in-laws, daughters-in-laws and a host of other relations, friends and admirers.
