Screening Exercise: Candidates Commend RSIEC For Thorough Job

The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) led by Hon. Justice George Omereji has been commended for successful screening of all the flag bearers of the various political parties for the forthcoming local government election scheduled for April 17, 2021.

Some of the chairmanship candidates who spoke with newsmen shortly after their screening commended RSIEC for a job well done, pointing out that they were thoroughly screened without any form of discrimination.

The PDP chairmanship candidate of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Sir Vincent Nemeeboka expressed confidence in the committee, saying the screening committee were fair as they took time to go through each person’s documents submitted to them for verification.

On his agenda for the Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Hon Nemieboka assured that if elected into office, his administration would give priority to sustenance of peace and security, nothing that without peace and security development cannot be driven.

He further assured that since education is the bedrock of development, he would lay a serious foundation for primary education, adding that the people of Ogu/Bolo would always vote for them because they are for PDP.

While the chairmanship flag-bearer of Emohua Local Government Area, Dr. Chidi Llyod on his part, declared that he would reverse the alarming rate of insecurity in the area when elected into office by working with all the stakeholders to ensure that the area becomes peaceful.

He assured that with the Corps of councilors with him, it shows a team that is committed to work because they know where it pinches and would provide solutions to the problems and leave a worthy legacy for posterity.

Also speaking was Hon. Akuro Tobin, the PDP flag-bearer of Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State assured that if elected, his administration will embark on key projects that will stimulate development in the area.

According to him, his 100 days in office would be marked with the building of an administrative block of about 50 office spaces.

He further outlined his strategies for the betterment of his people, some of it include employment, vocations, skills acquisition for the youths, education, electricity, etc.

The Action Democratic Party (ADP) candidate for Andoni Local Government Area, Mr. ThankGod Esu, expressed satisfaction with the screening process but declared that inspite of the fact that PDP is in-charge of the state, his party would become victorious at the polls because his Local Government Area has not had a fair share of government attention and development efforts under this administration.

To correct this misnomer, he said his party, ADP, has put in place list of priorities of development if voted into office, saying the yearning for change for better things for the people to see physically has come.

He maintained that his party would give radical different and higher concepts of human life into the society through employment and skills acquisition for the youths, “We will bring in mini industry and NGO’s where we will send our youths on a training and at the end of it, we, will employ them so as to curb insecurity in the area,” he said.

His words: “Andoni people should believe that the light has come, work with me to make this dream a reality. We shall reverse the trend of under-development in the area. Let your vote count.”
