Eminent Rivers Group Endorses Wike For 2019

The second term governorship aspiration of Governor Nyesom Wike has received a boost with the endorsement by a prominent and influential group in Rivers State.

The group called the Organization of Ijaws In The Riverine made its position known during a one day symposium in honour of Chief (Barr) Nyesom E. Wike for his developmental strides in the Ijaw speaking areas of Rivers State.

The Convener of the group, and member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Tonye Smart Adoki (JP) in his speech, said that Governor Nyesom Wike has proved beyond doubt that he truly loves the people of  Ijaw ethnic nationality, saying he is concerned with the welfare of the Ijaws in the riverine, following his significant contributions to the well-being and development of the people.

He made it clear that it is primordial in Rivers for ethnic groups to ask for the seat of governor in every election. Although, he said, the Ijaws in Rivers State especially have been denied for too long. “Yes, we deserve it, we are eminently qualified, it is but fair to let us have it even before now, he said, noting that the Ijaws must be fully prepared socially, economically, culturally and politically to once more take over the reign of government.

He went further to say that any Ijaw son, who is sincere to favour the riverine Ijaw, must first demonstrate it by being faithful in their dealings.

Hon. Adoki said that based on the physical proofs of Chief Nyesom Wike’s faithfulness in executing people-oriented projects in the riverine Ijaw, they have decided in one accord and in unison to garner their total support for a second term in office so as to consolidate on his achievements, as he has earlier promised to prepare the Ijaws even better and stronger for 2023.

One of the notable speakers at the occasion, Prof. Atuboyedia Obianime, described Governor Nyesom Wike as a detribalized and experienced son of the soil, who is trusted and accessible to all, not minding ethnic affiliation or social class in the society, adding that all hands must be on deck to encourage the governor to conclude his transformation agenda to the State.

However, stakeholders like Madam Ann Kio Briggs, Dr. Richard Akinaka, Comrade Sammy George, Deji Adeyanjo, Prof. Isaac Zeb-obipi, Moses Siloko Siasia, Dr. Chris Ekiyor, Engr. Udengs Eradiri, Alabo Kelly George and Barr. Oweilaemi R. Peretobo, in their separate speeches, listed the unprecedented achievements of Governor Nyesom Wike for the past few years and the need to continue to support him.

They expressed optimism that with the support of well-meaning people of the area, Governor Wike will have a smooth sail back to the Brick House, saying only people like him can make the people of the riverine Ijaw heave a sigh of relief.
