Suspected Cable Thief Meets Waterloo

….Pleads For Forgiveness

A suspected electric cable vandal, identified as Peter Mark, met his waterloo early Sunday morning as he was arrested by vigilante group having allegedly vandalized large quantity of electric armoured cable.

An eyewitness account said the suspect who was with two large bags was accosted by security personnel at R/D Road in Rumuodara, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, who suspected his movement.

Our source say on conducting search on him, the vigilante members discovered the bags contained electric cables, cutters and machete.

Upon interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to have vandalized electric cables around the area at different times.

The suspect was handed over to Okporo Police station where he is undergoing interrogation.

Residents informed our reporter that there have been blackout in some area in Rumuodara because of activities of vandals who vandalized cables belonging to Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED).

The President of Rumuodara Youth Association, Frank Weli confirmed the incident to our reporter.

The spokesperson of Rivers State Police command, Nnamdi Omoni when contacted promised to get back to our reporter but was yet to do as at press time.

However, a source in the Okporo Police Station confirmed that the suspect is being detained there.

At time of filing this report, the suspect is said to be pleading for forgiveness from the Police promising to assist the security agencies to fight crime if pardoned.
